Design That Evokes Emotion |
Hey Reader!
I've been up to quite a bit lately and have great news to share! I'll be bringing on two summer employees as a part of a Junior Achievement program. I'm so excited for the opportunity to mentor high school students this summer and help them discover their talents and the joy of interior design.
I'll also be participating in the Miramar Business Academy program which helps small businesses revise their business plans, garner mentorship, and provide resources like funding opportunities to support business needs. It's a fantastic program that I'm hoping helps YDP grow here in South Florida.
In other developments...
The YDP Design Clarity Session
You may have seen this offering on social media. It's is a new service to help homeowners feel more confident and avoid costly mistakes before embarking on a home improvement project. I wanted a low risk way to invite collab opportunities in my new hometown. Starting over is soooo hard friends🤦🏽♀️. So I'm hoping this session will create a bridge of trust and interest.
I've recently completed projects for clients in both Ohio and Kentucky! The rooms included a home office, foyer, a kid's bonus room, and a teen bedroom. Since these were remote E-design projects, I don't always get completed photos of the space but.....some may be forthcoming, stay tuned.👀
Lastly, I’ll be collaborating with a repeat client who recently relocated to Northern California. I’m deeply grateful that the relationships we build through design extend beyond zip codes and seasons of life.
Thank You!
Thanks to anyone who purchased my mom's cookbook! Her sales for Timeless recipes with a healthier twist have been amazing. She has preached wholesome, healthy eating, all my life and this is a perfect legacy to celebrate with her🎉🎉🎉 Go mom! If you're interested in ordering a copy you can get it here.
Creating Kids' Spaces
Empty nester or not, kids probably have a place in your life. Whether it's the kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, or the kids of good friends, having the youth around makes us all feel a little bit younger (in spirit if not in body 😂).
So let's encourage this youthful whimsy and fun through spaces where these kids can thrive and create.
We talk a lot about empty nesters here, but this one is also for the new parents and the parents deep in the trenches of the tween and teen years. You love them, but they really need their own space!
Last month we talked about some red flags that show your home really needs an update, but I think we can add another: your kids have nowhere to go in your home that is all theirs. It might be time to make that happen!
So this month it's all about creating a kids' space. Fun, age-appropriate, hobby-inspiring, and energy-spending kids' rooms come together with careful planning and the intentional selection of furniture and decor your kids will absolutely love.
From the planning stage to the final reveal, let's work together to ensure your home has kid-friendly spaces that become the ultimate hang-out zones.
Just Finish That Room! 5 Ways to Finish the Home Design Project
if you have a home improvement or renovation project waiting patiently to be finished, you are not alone! And I’m here to encourage you to just finish that room.

It's our 16-year anniversary! Crazy how the time flies, but I've enjoyed every second of these 16 years. I've worked with some amazing clients, made wonderful connections, and built fabulous relationships. Not to mention all the projects and the feeling of helping others create homes they absolutely love.
What a joy and blessing to have you all here to celebrate this milestone with me!
Some Kids' Room Basics
We'll talk about about this in our blog, but I wanted to name a few kids' room basics you should consider before jumping into shopping and design.
1) Comfy furniture. Lounge chairs, bean bag chairs, maybe even a sofa, large floor pillows, blankets, and more help your kids create a comfy and cozy space to read, play games, create forts, and more.
2) Paint colors. This is a great time to quiz the kids! What is their favorite color? What inspires them? Where do they love to be and what color palette can you pull from that location? To make this truly their space, you'll have to abandon your preferred color palette a bit.
3) Location, location, location. Whether it's simply revamping their bedroom, finishing the basement, or carving out a whole other space in your home, the location of your kids space matters.
For all these consideration and more, an interior designer can help! We'll be your strategy, shopping, and room arrangement partner.
This month we're featuring a vendor I've loved and used in design projects. Introducing 54kibo! I really love their wall decor and textural elements. It's the perfect way to add that cultural feel and pay homage to timeless craftsmanship. I highly recommend browsing all they have to offer. And then, together, we can shop and style it to suit your home, family, and lifestyle.
